Workers demonstrations at Hanil Cement in South Korea
You will recall our Trade Union Rights Flash referring to this case. 24 Remicon drivers, members of the Incheon plant of Hanil Cement have been locked out of the plant. Workers wages are not being paid and this situation has tremendous impact on the lives of the members and their families. Recently, 200 union members participated in the demonstration. Some members came from far away as Jeonju - four hours from Seoul.
Our Federation's financial solidarity assistance from our International Solidarity Fund has been instrumental to the union's work in organizing workers in the construction industry as well as advocating for improving the lives of construction workers in the country. The union is committed to" fight until the very end".

Although the union had requested an official meeting with the Hanil Cement management to discuss the matter, company officials refused to meet with the union. The new management still refuses to recognise the union of the Remicon drivers.
